New-Build Timber Frame House
Architect: Grain Architecture
Andy worked on this project from when Grain Architecture took it over at Stage 3 to completion, including obtaining permission for amendments to the pre-existing planning permission, detail design, and assistance during construction. The clients came to Grain Architecture with a house design that had been granted planning permission, as they wanted to build it using sustainable, natural building materils that their previous Architects were not familiar with.
The walls were prefabricated timber frame panels with 190mm studs filled with flexible natural insulation with rigid woodfibre insulation exxternally. The roof was insulated with flexible natural insualtion. The Ground floor was rendered and the First floor was clad with waney Edge timber cladding.
An Air Source Heat Pump was installed to prviede low-carbon heating & hot water.
