Mid-Terrace Extension & Alterations
Architect: Grain Architecture
Andy worked on this Grain Architecture project from inception to construction. Timber frame extension and alterations to 60s mid-terrace house on a sloping site in Surrey. The existing timber frame walls and loft have been insulated with natural insulation. The ground floor has been opened up to make better use of the space with a new stair down to the lower ground floor. The lower ground was extended to the rear with new glazed timber doors opening onto the garden terrace. The roof of the extension creates a balcony terrace to take advantage of the view over the valley. A reading nook has been created under the stair in the lower ground floor.
